Morels are one of America's most treasured mushrooms, foraged in the springtime and can be dried to enjoy throughout the year. Growing them was considered impossible for a long time, but thanks to some determined mushroom farmers, you can cultivate your own morel patch if you live in a climate that has a winter season. Morels require the cold snap and thaw that occurs in winter to trigger mushroom growth in the spring. You'll also need patience - it takes three to five years for morels to appear after setting up a morel patch, but they will likely come back year after year once established.  It's still an experimental process and we cannot guarantee success as it hinges on the whims of nature, but if you have the required patience and weather conditions, you've got an excellent chance of a morel harvest. It's a great way to add a seasonal delicacy to your land to enjoy for years to come.

I can't say if it was good or bad.

It looked like it had pieces of mushroom in it. I guess I will give it time and see if anything happens.

Black Morel culture

I followed the directions and planted in the closest place I have to a forest floor, base of an apple tree. Guess I will be patient and keep checking for 5 yrs

Have not planted them yet—Looking forward to the year when they produce.

Questions

I just received the two kits I ordered. I.e. two syringes of 10ML of black morel culture. No instructions were included except to refrigerate for long term storage which is longer than 2 months and “incubation temp 65-70F/fruiting temp 60-70F”
I intend to keep my cultures at room temp until outside temps reach 70 degrees. Then, I assume I use this culture to replace mushrooms when I make my slurry as instructed in the Mother Earth News article. Then wait 3 to 5 years to see if my theories on instructions are correct??
I ordered 2 kits so as to gift one to a friend.

Sorry about that Mark! Intructions are typically sent with the product but just in case, we've posted them on the product page along with the description. I also sent you a copy of the instructions via email. Good luck with your mushrooms!
